Dear Parents
Welcome back to Term 4. This term’s topic is ‘Children in World War 2’. We will arrange a trip to the air-raid shelter and museum during this term. We will be covering the following topics:
English – we will be writing letters and information texts (all linked to World War 2)
Maths – we will be working on the following:
- consolidating counting on and back in steps of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10
- rounding 2 or 3-digit numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.
- Mentally adding or subtracting combinations of on and 2 digit numbers
- Deriving and recalling multiplication facts for the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 times tables
History – we will be learning about different aspects of World War 2
- Children in World War 2
- Studying the effects of the Blitz and rationing
- The diary of Anne Frank
- Understanding the reasons for celebrating the end of the war
Science – Teeth and eating
D&T – Making sandwiches and snacks
ICT – Web quests on different aspects of WW2
Music – Practising songs for their play
RE – Signs and symbols, Easter
We will be busy practising for the lower key stage 2 play this term and look forward to the performances on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th March. Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries or concerns.
